The Goddard School for Early Childhood Development

The Goddard School is a nationally known organization specializing in early childhood education focused on an inquiry-based curriculum, providing children with opportunities for playful learning and is designed to nurture each child's unique social-emotional, academic and creative development through interactive experiences with peers and teachers alike.

Located in the Stratfield Village section of Fairfield, CT, this project involved the conversion of a 10,000 SF former community supermarket built in 1949 to a new child day care facility. The scope of work for this project included the rehabilitation of the existing masonry and stucco façade, new insulated, Low E glazed storefront systems, new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting and sprinkler systems to facilitate the new layout, as well as a modern security system. As Project Manager for The Monroe Partnership, Nick worked closely with the building Owner, Franchisee and Goddard Systems, Inc. to implement the building program, which accommodates classroom space for total of 146 students ranging from infancy to up to 5 years of age, with dedicated toilet rooms, diaper-changing stations & outdoor play areas as required by the State of Connecticut regulations. The layout also includes two offices, a conference room, and other support spaces such as a service kitchen, laundry room, utility room, data closet; and ample storage space throughout the facility. Assistance was also provided to the franchisee to develop State of CT required licensing evaluation plans.
